Salt spray testing is a standardized and quite popular corrosion testing method, which is typically done to check the resistance of a material or surface coating to corrosion. It is often also termed as salt fog testing, or simply, corrosion testing. Although, salt spray testing is mostly conducted on metallic materials featuring a coating intended to protect against corrosion, in some cases, ceramics, polymers and objects made of stone may also require salt spray testing.
